Oberlin-Celebration of Life services for George M. Peterson 75, will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2 o'clock p.m. at Oberlin Baptist Church, Rev. Paul Matte will officiate. Following his services, George will be peacefully laid to rest at Oaklin Springs Cemetery in Oberlin. George was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Mary for 36 years until her passing in June of 2020. George was a hard worker and strived to work hard to provide for his family. He began driving trucks at the age of 17 and kept this career all throughout his adult life. George was a man of strong but humble faith and cherished his relationship with Christ his Savior. He loved and adored his family and cherished every moment that he spent with them. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching television and cooking for his family. "I cooked a roast" were often words that his family heard and came to appreciate. George will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish George's memory include his two sons, Derek M. Matte, and Merle C. Peterson, both of Oberlin, one daughter, Katy Matte of Oberlin, one brother, Harvey Peterson and wife Beth of Springboro, PA, one sister, Vicky Shidemantle and husband Gary of Edinboro, PA, two grandchildren, Mary Duplechian and Lainey Manuel both of Oberlin, one great-grandchild, Elijah Duplechian of Oberlin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Veronica Peterson, his wife Mary Peterson, two brothers, John and Edward Peterson, and one sister Debbie Komnath.
Condolences and words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com or our Facebook page at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
