Geraldine Kelley Clark,86, affectionally known as "Dine" by her husband of 44 years, Lee V. Clark peacefully slipped away at home surrounded by her loving daughters on Monday, July 24,2023.
Geraldine was born on September 17, 1936, in
Newport News, VA, the oldest of six children born to the late Gracie May Banks. Momma was a beautiful, kind, and loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister who lived a blessed and wonderful life. She loved her family and took excellent care of her 12 children unselfishly. You could find her outside at any given time playing and interacting with her children.
Our mother was a faithful active member of First Baptist Church East End for over Sixty-plus years. She loved the Lord and brought her children up in the church as well. She instilled in each of her children strong work ethics, to always be respectful and treat others the way you would
want them to treat you. Our mom served as a Youth Usher Ministry Leader under the leadership of W.M. Brown Sr. and
W. M. Brown Jr. She was a member of the Feminae Social and Civic Club, and a volunteer at the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA on Orcutt Avenue in Newport News. She loved all the activities the YWCA created for the children in the community such as Coats for Kids, Summer Camp, going to
the movies, sleepovers, cookouts, and skating parties etc. Geraldine also worked at the old C & P Telephone Company on 39 th Street, Downtown Newport News but the job she loved the most was taking care of her children, keeping them safe from harm and making sure they knew how much they were loved.
Our mother was preceded in death by her mother Gracie Banks, brother Floyd D. Banks, sister
Gracie A Jordan, three sons, Ronald T. Banks, Lorenzo Kelley, and Victor D. Kelley.
