Gloria Yvonne Kasparian

Gloria Montano Kasparian, 79, Deming resident passed away peacefully on Friday March 22, 2024 in Las Cruces, NM.
Gloria was born October 18, 1944 in Las Cruces, NM, where she attended school through freshman year. Gloria's family moved to Dell City, TX, after her father took a job managing a farm and where she graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1962, met her future husband, started a family, and made lifelong friends. Gloria and David lived briefly in Manteca, CA, while David apprenticed as a mechanic. They moved back to Dell City, where they farmed and operated a shop. Opportunity led them to Deming, NM in 1972 and shortly after, Gloria began working as the secretary at Sunshine School, where she helped organize and work at many of the Sunshine School PTC Enchilada Dinners. Gloria was an active member of Sunshine PTC and served as a 4-H club leader. She often reminisced about the tight knit family that was part of the little country school community. Later, she moved to Deming High School, where she found a new community, working many years as an administrative secretary, enjoying the students, faculty, and staff that she worked with. David and Gloria farmed from 1976-2015. Together they started Diamond K Produce, growing chili and onions. Gloria enjoyed excursions and birthday celebrations with her "Old Friends," family gatherings and attending her granddaughters' activities.
She is survived by her husband David Kasparian and a daughter Dianne Zachek (Kevin) all of Deming; her son Mark Kasparian (Malisa) and granddaughters Darian Zachek and Kamryn Zachek, all of Albuquerque; 4 sisters Mary Teitsworth, Dolores Hendricks (Scott), Roberta Parker (Gary), Elizabeth Decker (Tim) all of Las Cruces; her 2 brothers Ray Montano (Linda) of Las Cruces and Tom Montano (Rebecca) of Albuquerque. Her extended family includes brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Chacon Montano and Esperanza Maldonado Montano, and a sister Elma Montano.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday April 6, 2024 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Holy Family Catholic Church (612 S. Copper St. Deming, NM 88030). The rite of committal and inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery (3410 E. Pine St. Deming, NM 88030). Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County, Inc.
