Heather A. Bernhard

Harrisville- Heather A. (King) Bernhard, 42, of State Route 3, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at her home.
She was born on June 7, 1981, in Lowville, New York to Peter King & Colleen (Cross) King. She grew up with her family and friends in Syracuse, NY, and graduated from Cicero North Syracuse High School. She then went on to earn a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego and a master's degree from SUNY Albany with a major in International Communications and minors in both Women's Studies and Business.
Heather had a passion for travel and in her early years traveled all over Europe, coming home with amazing memories and hilarious stories. After college, she settled down and married Robert J. Bernhard III and the couple had 3 beautiful children. Heather decided to stay home to raise their children for many years and found joy in cooking, nature, and fostering her children's strengths. She loved to proudly watch her children excel in their chosen passions.
More recently, Heather and Rob worked together to start and run a local business, and while Rob did the heavy lifting, Heather managed the payroll, schedules, and all the additional tasks that come with this kind of endeavor. She enjoyed working alongside her children and ex-husband at this family-run business, the Harrisville Hardware Store. She also enjoyed reading, crafts, and sudoku in her spare time.
Along with her mother, Colleen King, father, Peter King, and stepmother Patty Auringer, she is also survived by her ex-husband; Robert J. Bernhard III: her children; Maia, Gavin, and Mason Bernhard: her siblings; Elizabeth King, Leif King (wife Ivonne), and Amelia Auringer: and her nieces and nephew; Annabelle, Carmen, and Hunter King. She is also survived by her beloved animals; her dogs, Max & April, and her cats, Mittens & Skittles.
She is predeceased by her grandparents, William A. "Tony" & Stephanie Cross, and William & Anne King.
There will be no public calling hours. A private service will be held by her family.
