Helen Jelen (Nichols) Stanfill, 89 of Clarksville, Tennessee passed away on August 4, 2024 in Clarksville after an extended illness surrounded by loved ones at her side. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Sykes Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
She was referred to affectionately as “Meme” and will long be remembered for her love of family, friends, and her generosity. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived a full life and will be deeply missed.
Born on November 17, 1934 in Ardmore, Alabama, Helen was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Nichols Brown.
Helen was a 1953 graduate of Ardmore High School in Ardmore, Alabama. She continued her education at Columbia Business School in Columbia, TN.
She married Clifton Thomas Stanfill of Columbia, TN in 1955. After numerous moves with the United States Army they settled in Clarksville.
Helen was an avid supporter of numerous charities in the Clarksville and Oak Grove communities.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clifton Stanfill, her sister, Shirley Magnusson and step-father Elmo Brown.
She is survived by two sons Jeff Stanfill Sr. (Rebecca) and Kevin Stanfill (Carmen), six grandchildren: Jeff, Brittney, Ashley, Ryan, Shelby and Haleigh, and five great-grandchildren.
