Henry "Hank" D'Andrea, 87, of Marlton, NJ died on January 14, 2023 at his loving home in the presence of his immediate family after battling a short illness. Born on July 6, 1935, he was the son of deceased Pacifico and Ilda D'Andrea. He is predeceased by his wife Angela "Dolli" and his son, Michael. He is survived by his sons Ronald (Betty) and Kenneth (Laurie); his daughter-in-law Patty, his seven grandchildren- Michelle (Kevin), Michael, Stephanie, Danielle (Alex), Nicole, Gabrielle and Phillip, and his brother Danny (Rose).
Hank graduated from Rutgers University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He played football for Rutgers University as a tight end and a defensive end and was recruited by both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns, until his knees gave out and changed his life's journey. He married the love of his life, Angela "Dolli" Verdi on December 1, 1957. They were inseparable. They formed a true partnership that lasted almost 62 years (until her passing in 2019).
Much of Hank's career was in the manufacturing industry, where after a couple of other stops along the way, he was a plant manager for General Felt Industries. After retiring, he found himself working for the South Jersey Port Corporation until he retired a second time in 2015. He spent much of his free time giving back to the community that he cherished. He coached his older sons in baseball with the Marlton Rec Council. He was a part of the early years of establishing the Saint Joan of Arc Carnival. He was a founding member of the Marlton Sons and Daughters of Italy-Marlton Lodge 2315 and was also a state president for the Grand Lodge of New Jersey of the Sons and Daughters of Italy. He served on the Evesham Township Planning Board for 9 years and then was elected to the Evesham Township Council for 12 years, serving the community as a councilman.
Hank loved the shore and the casinos. He enjoyed dining; especially when you included a Merlot, Chianti, Malbec or another favorite red wine. However, he enjoyed those activities much more when he was with Dolli. Family was everything to Hank; always using the term "blessed" to describe his world and his fortunes. He will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you simply remember Hank and his family fondly in your prayers.
Mass will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Rd., Marlton on Friday, January 20 at 10:30am. Burial will be private.
