Henry M. "Hank" Patterson, Sr., age 81, of Cahokia Heights, IL, born on October 11, 1941, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at his residence.
Hank was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Teamster Local #600 driver with Purolator Courier, then Emory Worldwide Freight System in St. Louis, MO for over 35 years. He also was a former driver for Al's Automotive in Cahokia for 13 years. Hank enjoyed working on family and friend's cars and he never charged a dime. He loved to play cards, enjoyed his family, and watching his grandkid's sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Patterson, nee Walker, who died on February 19, 2022; his daughter, Gina Moravec; his parents, Henry Monroe and Nettie Belle, Woods Patterson; and his siblings, Bill Patterson, Carol Butcher, Jean Hart, Teddy Patterson, and Morris Patterson.
Hank is survived by his children, Mike Patterson of Cahokia Heights, IL, Hank Patterson, Jr., of Cahokia Heights, IL, and Denise (Brian) Spears of East Carondelet, IL; his grandchildren, Michael Patterson II, Ashlea (Bill) Meyer, Steve Moravec, Christi Moravec, Gage Patterson, Ivy Patterson, Paul Spears, Brittani Patterson, Brendan Gossage, and Taiylor Gossage; 9 great grandchildren; and his brothers, Gary (Rose) Patterson of Cahokia Heights, IL, and Darrell Patterson of Swansea, IL.
Per Hank's wishes, he was cremated. A burial of his cremated remains, along with his wife Joyce, will take place on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
