Sorry this comment is so very late. I was just thinking of President Spencer again and ran across the news of his passing. I am truly sorry to have missed the funeral.

I served as mission printer in the mission office in Sweden working under President Spencer. He probably never realized the full extent of the love I had for him and the powerful effect for good he had on this struggling missionary. He was like a father for those 11 months of my life.

I still remember and think of his many teaching moments as among the very most spiritual events of my lifetime.

God bless you Herbert and I am looking forward to embracing you in the relatively near future.

Offering my condolences to your family. I worked for Dr Spencer 1989-1992 at the Urology Clinic and just stumbled upon this news. I remember him as a hard worker, devoted to patient care and was so sweet to his elderly patients-always treating them with respect and love.
May your family feel comfort and peace in the memories at this time.

Julie, he had to be a wonderful father to produce a winner like your self. Our condolences.

To the Spencer Family---

Prayers and condolences at the loss of you husband and father. He was a great man, a friend, and professional colleague through some critical years for both of us. Many times wee discussed our situations together at church, or on outings like the father-son camp out. He had a great listening ear and compassion for all he knew. He will be greatly missed.

Herb stands as one of the finest men I ever knew. I cherish the many hours we spent sitting on the curb or standing in the street discussing the Gospel or seeking a sympathetic ear for whatever was ailing us that day. My deepest sympathies to his family whom he loved.

Herb was a great friend and mentor. we were home teaching companions and neighbors. I loved being around him so he could share his vast knowledge of the gospel and life with me and others. He was a super doctor and a better friend. I loved him dearly, LEE
