Jacqueline Teresa (Wagstaff) Varner, 68, of Bellefontaine, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Oxford, England on October 2, 1955, the daughter of the late Archibald and Mary Margaret (Purtill) Wagstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dallas Cole Varner (7 months), a brother and sister-in-law, Archibald & Annette Wagstaff Jr., and best friend, Linda Clark.
Jackie married Russel Varner in Oxford, England on November 25, 1978, and they raised a loving family together.
She is survived by three children, Luke (Sara) Varner, Jeremy (Chrissy) Varner, and Chelsea (Roy) Heath, eight grandchildren: Justin, Jack and Jessa Varner, Keaten and Daylin Varner, and Kaylie (Bronx Meadows), Kaleb and Trenton Heath, one great grandchild, Ivy Meadows, three siblings, Christopher (Liz) Wagstaff, Valerie (Bill) Francis, and Luke Wagstaff, and best friends, Nancy Donley and Donna Duncan. Later in life, she married Gary Buttery in 2014.
Jackie worked for RTC Services as a support specialist for 33 years, before retiring. She was devoted to her clients, treating them as family. Jackie volunteered at the humane society and fostered countless animals. She had a passion for helping others, and her door was always open. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her, her whole world.
Pastor Gary Brown will officiate a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Honey Birch Farm, 550 Twp. Rd. 30 E., West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Following the service at the Honey Birch Farm, the family will receive friends and family until 7:00 p.m. and per Jackie’s request, there will be food and drinks served. Burial will be in Rushsylvania Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to His Hands Extended Sanctuary Animal Shelter, 1560 Dialton Rd., St. Paris, Ohio 43072 or to the Logan County TNR Project, PO Box 102, Huntsville, OH.
