Funeral services for Jeryl Allen Johnson, 81, of Windsor, SC will be held at two o'clock p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Smart and Dr. David Richardson officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Jeryl passed away at home on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 856 Mt. Beulah Rd., Windsor, SC 29856
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Neal Kaney, Mark Kaney, Hunter Kaney, Trevor Kaney, Roy Huffman and Ralph Roe. Honorary pallbearers will be Zac Berry, Jay Black, Cullen Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Eddie Newsome, Casey Proctor, Ethan Powell, Jason Rentz and Leon Scott.
Born at the family home in Windsor, SC, he was a son of the late Cullen Root Johnson and Beulah Coley Johnson. He previously served as a deacon, was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church and was a member of the Young at Heart. He once coached the church softball team and the SCE&G softball team. Jeryl retired as a lineman after 38 years of service from SCE & G. He loved spending time with his family and camping with his grandchildren and rarely missed any of their ballgames. Jeryl was hardworking man who loved gardening and enjoyed tending to their cows. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and served during the Berlin Crisis.
Survivors include his loving wife, of 58 years, Judie Annette Boyd Johnson; his two sons, Jeryl Allen Johnson, II and Jamie Alex Johnson both of Windsor; grandchildren, Chandler Alex Johnson and Stephanie Marie Johnson; sisters-in-law, Brenda (J.C.) Kaney of Windsor and Elspye Byars Johnson of Montmorenci, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cyril Cullen Johnson; his sister and her husband, Belva Jean J. (Marrall) Keisler.
The family would like to thank Kristen Gehrlein and Critical Nurse Staffing and Trinity Hospice and their nurses and staff for the love and care shown to them during this time.
