Joseph "Joe" Stevens, 37, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A reception will follow at the Eagles in Grinnell. The family encourages folks to wear red and gold to show Joe's love of the Kansas City Chiefs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Joseph Stevens Memorial Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Joe's family online at www.smithfh.com.
Joseph Paul Stevens was born on May 2, 1986 in Grinnell, Iowa to Gary and Pamela (Hemby) Stevens. He was raised and educated in Grinnell.
Joe was united in marriage to Candace Wilson on July 26, 2019 in Marshalltown, Iowa. They resided in Grinnell and Joe worked at various business in and around Grinnell such as Priority Plastics and Natural Products.
Joe's enjoyments were going for motorcycle rides, camping and sitting around a camp fire, fishing, and most of all he loved anything that involved being with his family. He will be remembered for being a dare devil, for his loyalty, and for being the protector of his family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Candace Stevens and their children, Emrie and Ezra, of Grinnell; parents, Gary and Pam Stevens of Grinnell; father and mother-in-law, Herbie (Deb) Wilson and Terry Ellison; siblings, Angie (Larry) Shine of Grinnell, Matt Stevens of Grinnell, and other siblings; niece, Sarah Etheridge; nephews, Jesse and Evan Stevens; aunts and uncles, Sheryl (Ells) Freeman, David (Deb) Hemby, and Rose (Dennis) Clark; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his niece, Aliyah Stevens.
