John David Kay, age 76, passed away on August 29, 2023, at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
John was born on August 10, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilma Audrey Holden and Darrell Henry Kay Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Richard Kay, Shelly Kay and his daughter, Anna Kay. He is Survived by his children, David Kay of Garden Grove, California, Wendy (Daniel) Newell of Draper, Utah, Carmen (Dave) Gonzales of Salt Lake City, Utah, Paula Kay of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ryan Kay of Boise, Idaho, Jennifer Kay of Lehi, Utah, Rachel (Brody) Wilson of Lehi, Utah and19 grandchildren.
John deeply loved his children and family and expressed it daily by the way he lived his life in service toward them. His example of love and acceptance of others was always present. He accomplished many things through his hard work,
discipline, perseverance, gratitude, sacrifice and seeing the adventure in challenges. He instilled these attributes in his children and will always be
remembered for the life lessons and words of wisdom he shared. He had a passion for being outdoors, in the mountains or at the beach, and could always be found biking, hiking, running, and exercising.
John served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1967. He graduated from Cal
State Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He worked for the State of Utah Insurance Department for 24 years as a Financial Examiner (Examiner in Charge, Assistant to the Chief Examiner & Sr. Financial Examiner).
He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Our time with him will be cherished and, in our hearts, always.
