Rev. John T. Merritt

Rev. John "J.T." Merritt, age 96, of Canton, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Heartland Hospice. He was a builder and a member of Hillside Community Church. He was the founder and former pastor of Faith Family Church (formerly Faith Assembly of God) and was a deacon and past member of Marietta First Assembly of God for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009, from Faith Family Church with Rev. Albert C. Vickers, Rev. Russell Murdock and Rev. Tommy White officiating. Interment will follow in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. Survivors include his sons, Gerald Merritt, Acworth, Wayne Merritt and Marion Merritt, Armuchee; daughters, Joyce Lockhart, Canton, Gwen Tritt, Marietta, Irma Williams, Dawsonville, Beverly Watt, Acworth; brothers, Rev. T.A. Merritt, Powder Springs, Rev. Donald Merritt, MO; sister, Juanita Barrett, Mableton; 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren.
