1933 - 2023

John (Jack) Schwartz
Jack died peacefully on June 6, 2023 after battling numerous
health issues in recent years.
Beloved husband of 52 years of the late Vincentia "Jean"
Schwartz (RN); dear father to 4 successful and educated
children Jack (Marilyn) Schwartz, Jr., Jim (Donna) Schwartz,
Jeanne Goff; and the late Janice Gale; dear grandfather of
Stephanie, Jennifer and Joshua; dear great grandfather of
Remi and Riley; dear brother of the late Jules and Bud
Schwartz; a dear brother-in-law of the late Bridgett and John
Baragiola, Frank (Mabel) Emma and Vincent Emma; dear
uncle, cousin, and dear friend to Janet Hotop and family, and
many others.
Jack was generous to people in need. He provided financial
support for his friend Mike who was ill for many years. Jack
paid for the education of family friend MaryAnn to become
an RN; and life necessities to family friend Dave; He was a
generous donor to many charities including American Heart
Association, Aplastic Anemia, Diabetes, Alzheimer's,
Wounded Warriers, and others. A proud member of
Cleveland Highschool alumni and active in grade school
reunion events.
John (Jack) was born in south St. Louis and grew up with little
means or guidance. John (Jack) began his marriage to Jean
(RN) with $17 dollars in the bank, pumping gas, selling
charcoal, and running a Tastee bread route. With 4 young
children to support and his wife's encouragement, John
(Jack) went to night school while working 3 jobs. He earned a
Bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Louis University.
John (Jack) earned his C.P.A. certification and rose to the
position of partner at a national accounting firm.
In his continuing pursuit of knowledge and education he
earned a Juris Doctor Law Degree from Laclede Law School.
John (Jack) served as a Director on bank boards and was
CFO/Controller for businesses in the transportation and
hospitality industries. He was a trusted business advisor to
many.
John (Jack) became an entrepreneur as well. He established a
successful accounting practice and businesses in the real
estate and transportation industries.
Due to his boundless ambition and energy through the years,
John (Jack)'s life story was truly a "rags to riches" one.
Visitation 12-1 pm and memorial service 1-1:45 pm on
Tuesday, June 13 @ 12 pm to 1:45. at Ortmann Stipanovich
Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Boulevard, Creve Coeur with
funeral service following at 1:45 p.m. Bellerive Gardens
Cemetery, 740 N. Mason Road. Memorial contributions
