John R. Tay Jr, 62, formerly of Wallington, NJ, passed away December 18, 2023 after a period of failing health. He was the son of John Tay and Judith Murray of Wallington NJ.
He was born Dec 7, 1961 at Camp LeJeune Marine Base in NC and graduated from Wallington High School.
He entered the US Army in 1980 and served for four years as a sergeant and mechanic on US and German bases. John had a passion for cars and motorcycles and was happiest when tinkering with them. He lived in Wallington NJ for decades after the stint in the Army as well as working for Walmart in Glens Falls, NY for many years.
He was predeceased by a brother, Kevin, his parents, and his uncles, Tom and Bob and aunts Mary Cox and Helene Tay. He leaves behind one brother, Charles Tay, a niece, Holly Tay, an aunt Ann Tay, as well as cousins Jean Labanowski, Kathy Marshall, Susan Newshutz, David Tay, Jennifer Pascucci and Lisa Anderson as well as many friends. He was an extroverted and fun-loving person who will be missed by all who knew him. The family is grateful to the many veterans programs that kept John safe and well cared for in his later years.
