John G. Wilkinson of Greenwood Village, CO, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, from Dementia related causes at the age of 82.

John is survived by his wife, Sandra, his three children, Cynthia, Brian, and Wendyann, as well as Sandra's children, Amy and Brett, his sister Mimi Nelson, and his former wife, Sharon. John is also survived by his eleven cherished grandchildren.

John was born September 17, 1940, in Alma, Michigan, to the late Walter and Berthe Wilkinson. John's parents moved their family of five, including John, his sister Mimi, and younger brother Richard to Evergreen Colorado in the summer of 1949. Richard was sadly stricken with illness related to Kidney disease and passed away in 1961.

John graduated from Evergreen High School in 1960, then studied Business and Economics at Colorado State University, later graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a degree in Economics in 1966. John began a career in banking at The First National Bank of Denver and United Bank of Denver before joining Colorado State Bank & Trust, where he worked for over thirty-five years, retiring as CEO in 2003.

John was active in the Denver business and philanthropic communities as a former member of Robert Morris Associates, The Colorado Bankers Association, and The Petroleum Club of Denver. He was a former Trustee of Graland Country Day School and Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Kidney Foundation.

John enjoyed camaraderie with his friends and associates as a longtime member of The University Club, The Denver Country Club, The Mile High Duck Club, and The Wigwam Club. John loved sports and was a loyal and lifelong CU Buff fan. He enjoyed playing golf, fly-fishing, hunting, skiing, tennis, and armchair sporting events such as the Indy 500 and The Masters, with family wagers often undertaken for extra excitement.

John cherished every moment with his family, friends, and pets. He was an avid dog lover, especially of his faithful Labrador pack from the past three decades, including Buster, Tucker, Forsberg, and Luna.

A private family service will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Evergreen, CO.

John's family is sincerely grateful for the gift of life he received through a beloved family member in 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to Donor Alliance or one of the many pet rescue organizations in the Denver area.
