Johnnie Lee Abernathy Sr., 47, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on March 18, 1976, to the late Eddie Abernathy and Norma Sizemore Abernathy in Louisville, Kentucky. Johnnie was the life of the party. He never met a stranger and always had plenty to say. Johnnie was a hard headed rebel, and crazy ol' white boy. He was born and raised Portland Proud, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. In his spare time, Johnnie enjoyed skateboarding as a child, having a smoke, watching the U of L Cardinals, and listening to some of his favorite music like Stained, Bon Jovi, Hank Williams, and the Beastie boys, just to name a few. He was the Alpha of his pack, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, Eddie Abernathy, Johnnie is preceded in death by his grandmother, Niley Sizemore.
Left to cherish his memory, Johnnie leaves behind his wife, Lisa Allen Abernathy; 5 children, Amber Abernathy, Johnnie Abernathy Jr., Hannah Abernathy, Alexandria Vincent, and Aleeia Abernathy; mother, Norma Abernathy; sister, Michelle Adams; nephews, Christopher Adams, Conner Adams, Damien Allen, Deonte Johnson, and Teandre Allen; nieces, Tiffaney Allen, and Treanna Bryant; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Johnnie Abernathy will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky. A memorial gathering will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the funeral home prior to the service.
