Joseph Robert Surface

Joseph Robert Surface, 41, husband of Rena Bramlett Surface, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 while on a business trip in Dothan, Alabama. Joe was born in Charleston, West Virginia, son of Bonnie Bird and Harold C. Surface, Jr. of Clemson. Joe was a 2004 graduate of Clemson University and was a Regional Sales Account Manager with Solenis. He was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church. Joe loved everything Clemson especially football, basketball, and baseball. He was a founding member of the "Cheap Seats" at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. While attending Clemson, Joe served as Commodore of the Clemson Sailing Club. Joe loved his family. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Joe told the best stories, gave the biggest hugs, and always had a smile on his face. To know him was to love him. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three children, Darby Caroline Surface, James "Parker" Surface and Hadley Jo Surface of the home; brother, Harold C. Surface III (Caity), Harold's children, Lauren, Julia, Jacob and Adra; sister-in-law and bonus brother, Amanda and Josh Stewart of Seneca. Joe was predeceased by his grandparents, Freda Mildred and Harold Surface Sr. and Corlota and John Robert Bird from Charleston, WV. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Clemson United Methodist Church with graveside service to follow. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, Thursday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity that you are passionate about.
