Josh was born on June 22, 1980, to Dave and Julie Macfarlane in St. George, Utah. After Josh graduated from high school in 1998, he served a mission in Houston, Texas. He returned and married his high school sweetheart, Kristin Michelle Shumway, of St. George, Utah in June of 2000. After a series of different jobs, he began a career with Utah Department of Transportation where he has worked for the last 17 years. Josh and Kristin went on to have 3 children, Ayden Hunter, Avery Veon, and Menzies Camden.
Josh had many hobbies but especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.
Josh was predeceased by his grandparents: Julia Veon Burton, Howard Chauncey Macfarlane, and Althea Rose Macfarlane-Loosli; as well as his uncles: John Wiser, Whitney Macfarlane, and Todd Macfarlane. He is survived by his wife, Kristin Macfarlane; children: Avery and Davin Hansgen, Ayden Macfarlane, and Camden Macfarlane; parents, Dave Mac and Julie Macfarlane; mother and father-in-law, Darell and Kathy Porterfield; father-in-law, Gerald Shumway; sisters: Crystal Picklesimer, Michelle Kelly, and Nikki Batista; as well as one niece and eleven nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation with family at 1:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Santa Clara 4th Ward Chapel, 1705 Desert Dawn Drive, Santa Clara, Utah. Josh Macfarlane Service Program

Josh was a friend of my son Justin Tuft I got to know Josh and his wife Kristin thru the years. I think the last time I saw Josh and Kristin was at a Road show at Snow Canyon High it was the Special Needs Mutual who performed. Josh and his wife Kristin were very kind and loving people when ever we ran in to each other. I know Justin had sent Josh a text on April 19, wishing him a Happy Birthday and was saying he´d like to see z Josh and hang out. The call I got on Wednesday morning was a very heartbreaking call learning of Josh passing and I had to go let Justin know that his friend had passed on in his sleep. We want Kristin and all of his family know how deeply sorry we are for their great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family and friends. We were heartbroken we missed the funeral we left for California on Wednesday and returned Saturday but sadly heard the funeral was on Friday just know our spirits were there on that sad day. We send all our love and hugs Kristin to you and your children.
