Karen Lynn Mahan Golden, 55, of Houston, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013. She was born December 15, 1958 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Raymond and Edna Mae Mahan. She was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Ferris High School in 1976 and had her 1st born, Tamara Mahan. She had her 2nd child in February of 1978 and the two completed her. She worked hard raising her children in Jersey City until 1988 when she decided to move to Houston, Texas. Once in Houston, she made many friends. Upon the death of one of her close friends in 1993, she became the legal guardian of her daughter, Tabitha Jean Guthrie. She worked in restaurant management for over 18 years before obtaining her certification in accounting, and going on to work for Toshiba for the last 10 years. She married the love of her life, Gerald Golden on May 15, 2000. The two of them shared a love beyond compare and he cared for her until she took her last breath. Her mother Edna Mae Mahan and her nephew Christopher Mariano Mahan preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 13 years Gerald Golden; 3 children, Tamara Mahan, Tony Mahan, and Tabitha Jean Guthrie; Father, Raymond J. Mahan; Sisters, Susan Mahan De Jesus, Lori Mahan, and Lisa Sjursen; Brother, Raymond J. Mahan; 16 Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She loved listening to music especially to her oldies but goodies, reading, traveling, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. She especially enjoyed watching the holiday lights and programs. She will always be remembered for the undeniable love she has for her family and how she lived for them.
