Katie Marie Wright

Katie Marie Wright, of North Carolina, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born on November 13, 1987. Katie, known for her fierce leadership skills and contagious positive energy, pursued a remarkable career as an Operations Specialist in the United States Navy.
A true beacon of light, Katie, at the age of 36, was celebrated for her remarkable achievements in women's pole vaulting during her time at Princess Anne High School and Norfolk State University. Her athletic prowess garnered numerous scholarships and six national championship rings, solidifying her legacy. A mural at Norfolk State University stands as a testament to her exceptional talents.
Preceded in death by her son, Oliver Lee Wright, Katie is survived by her loving wife of 9 years, Abby Janean Wright, and their children Avianna and Lukas Wright. She leaves behind her parents, Camrin (Cami) Burandt and Timothy Wright, as well as her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cherished fur babies, Obi and Leia Wright.
With a larger than life personality and an unapologetic love for cheeseburgers, Katie was a social butterfly with an adventurous spirit who radiated joy wherever she went. Her laughter-filled presence and unwavering charisma made her the life of any gathering. Katie was adored as the world's best mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and aunt.
