Laura Bess Oresteen
Laura Bess Oresteen's smile paired with those sweet dimples and resonating laugh lit up every room she entered. Laura was the epitome of joy and love. She had a heart of gold and kept a positive spirit no matter what she faced.
Laura was born Nov. 20, 1979 in Fort Hood, Texas, to parents Brenda Eklund Oresteen and Anthony Oresteen. After courageously fighting breast cancer for three years, Laura passed peacefully with her family at her side Feb. 3, 2023.
Laura - endearingly known as Lala - graduated from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City in 1997 and continued on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 2005 with a degree in textiles. Laura had a fulfilling career in fabrics designing window treatments, building her small business, and creating striking spaces for clients all over the country.
Laura was passionate, fiery and vibrant. She was unabashedly loud and bold, and made everyone around her feel like they were special. Laura lived her life on her terms - from painting her house pink to adopting crooked-teethed rescue dogs - she lived life in full color. Her zest for life, and absolute love of anything pink, set her far apart from anyone we've ever known.
Laura is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a niece, a cousin, a best friend and chosen family to so many who love her. She will live on through us, and every other soul she touched during her beautiful time with us.
Laura will be deeply missed by her beloved family. She is survived by parents Brenda and
Anthony Oresteen, siblings Angela Nouryeh and Paul Oresteen, brother-in-law Rob
Nouryeh, sister-in-law Tina Oresteen, and nieces Elizabeth Clay, Isabella Nouryeh and Aubry Oresteen. She is predeceased by her sweet dogs Lulu and Leine, her grandparents Jessica and Frank Oresteen and Helen and Floyd Eklund, and her cousin Darcie Eklund.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson St. Newnan, GA 30277. The Funeral Mass will be held at Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at 3 Village Road Newnan, GA 30265.
