Linda D. Barnes, 71, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday at Upstate Community Hospital. Born in New York City, she grew up in Brooklyn, settling in the Syracuse area in 1971. A graduate of Elmira Free Academy, Linda received her LPN from SUNY Morrisville and selflessly cared for others during her nursing career, working diligently in various hospitals and nursing homes. Linda found fulfillment in volunteering at the Burnet Park Zoo. Her love for animals was evident in her dedication to their well-being.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret Millspaugh; and brother, Brian Millspaugh.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, David Barnes; sister, M. Joan Sadlowski of Cape Coral, FL; and brother, Gary Millspaugh of Highland Ranch, CO.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 1 at 1 p.m. in St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Elmira.
