Lloyd Albion Bacon passed away at his home after a long battle with health complications. Lloyd was born in Bremerhaven, Germany on March 24, 1961. He was the son of CTTC Clyde Bacon (U.S. Navy) and Alfreda Bacon. He attended schools in Agana, Guam; Winter Harbor, Maine; and Dike, Iowa.
Lloyd graduated from Dike High School in 1979. He went on to attend Hawkeye Tech where he studied Auto Mechanics and graduated in 1980. Lloyd worked in outside sales at Scot's Supply Co. Inc. and at Arnold Motor Supply, both in Waterloo, Iowa. He most recently worked as a journalist for Iowa Racing News. Lloyd was an avid fan of racing and old cars. He raced enduros, dirt oval Hobby Stocks and B-Modified classes at multiple tracks in Iowa. Lloyd had a love for things with motors but especially his Ford Mustang and Olds 442 Cutlass.
Lloyd will be missed by the classic car community where he was an administrator for car shows and social media platforms.
Lloyd is survived by a sister, Aletha Pung (Andy) of Maine, Aunts Louise Shaw and Weltha Sargent also of Maine, Judy Rayburn Young of North Carolina, nephews Jason and David Reckner, and multiple cousins. In lieu of flowers please support your local classic car shows. A gathering in Lloyd's memory will be held at a later date. Details to be released spring of 2023.
