Lou Ann Hanson

Lou Ann Fankhauser Hanson, age 71, passed away at her home in Boone, IA on December 31st, 2023. Lou Ann was born on February 6th,1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jerry and Lorraine Fankhauser. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1970. She continued learning throughout life including Art School at DMACC, and earned a bachelor's in science from Upper Iowa University where she studied Human Services and Psychology, graduating with the honors of Cum Lauda. Lou Ann will forever be remembered as a jovial, adventurous person who loved to enjoy the outdoors whenever she could. Her love for nature was shown through her art and photography, where she would do her best to capture the beauty she adored in this world. Her skills were also well fitted for the time she spent as a graphic design artist. Many knew her for her strong voice. She used that voice to advocate for her family, human rights and the environment. Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine and "Mutt" Hines and Jerry and Joanne Fankhauser. She is survived by her daughters Carson (Robin) Petitfils, Shelby Petitfils and son Will Hanson. Five grandchildren, five great grandchildren along with brother Brian Hines and sister Billi Jo Fankhauser Weaver. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 19th from 4-7PM at the Luana Savings Bank in Norwalk. Iowa.
