Ms. Mamie Whitfield - Humphries Obituary Mamie Lou Whitfield Humphries, 72, of
Statesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, after an extended illness.
Mamie Lou Humphries was born on December 26, 1952, in
Statesboro, Georgia, to Mr. James Whitfield and Mrs. Mary Whitfield. As a young girl, she was enrolled in the Bulloch County School
System and attended Williams James High School. She worked various jobs, but her recent employers in the last 40 years included Custom Instruments, Loxcreen, and part-time at Portal
Middle/High School after retiring from Loxcreen.
She lived a full and meaningful life, filled with unwavering love, infectious laughter, and a deep devotion to her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt,
cousin, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her contagious laugh, warm and comforting hugs, selfless spirit, and witty personality will forever be etched in the minds of those
who knew her as she impacted each person she interacted with. She was courageous, inspirational, and brave. As a true radiant force of energy, she showed us the amazing heights that can be reached through determination and perseverance as she raised three children on her own.
Mamie was known for her kind heart, unyielding strength, and ability to always put others first. She found joy in the little things, whether fishing, gardening, cooking, going to church, spending time
with family and friends, or adding a creative touch to any space in her home. Her motherly warmth and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and it is safe to say she never met a stranger.
Of all the roles she possessed, her favorite was being a mother. She was a devoted mother whose love knew no boundsfierce, unwavering, and beautifully unique. She cherished each of her children in her own special way, seeing their hearts, nurturing their dreams, and embracing their differences with open arms. Her love was a constant source of strength, and her presence will forever be felt in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late James Whitfield and Mary Whitfield; three brothers, Lamar Whitfield, James Whitfield Jr.,and Carnell Whitfield; and one sister, Carolyn
Whitfield.
To honor her memory, Mamie is survived by her two loving sons, Tony (Daphne) Hodge and Donta Humphries; her loving daughter, Dr. Carol Jaret (Johnathan) Coleman; three loving grandchildren, Aleaha Wiggins, Laila Humphries, and Chelsea Hodge; one loving great-grandchild, Kaelynn Wiggins; two loving sisters, Janell (Johnny) Keller and Eloise Lockhart; and two loving brothers, Jerry (Teresa) Whitfield and Ricky Whitfield.
