Margaret Evangeline Bleakley "Vangie" Stein
1930-2023
Margaret "Vangie" Stein resident of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born on December 6, 1930 in Hunter, North Dakota to the late William Stewart Johnston Bleakley and Margaret Lillias Richmond Bleakley.
Vangie had a career in the United States Navy Nurse Corps from 1953 to 1960, as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. She then worked as a Registered Nurse for the next 35 years.
She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church (Pensacola) but had prior membership of over 30 years at Groce United Methodist Church in Ashville, North Carolina.
Vangie was a women of faith. She loved her family, music, playing the piano and singing. She had the voice of an Angel. She also enjoyed rose, flower, and vegetable gardening
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard G. Stein; parents; and brother, Stewart Bleakley.
Vangie is survived by her children, Margaret Lynn Stein, Ashville, North Carolina, Debora A. (Paul) Looney, Pensacola, Florida, Richard G. (Stacie) Stein, Jr., Morristown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Richard B. (Anne Marie Fessenden) Looney, Pensacola, Florida, Dawn Margaret Looney, Auburn, Alabama, Richard G. Stein, III, and Ashley Marie Stein both of Morristown, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Tahlia and Olivia Arguello, Morristown, Tennessee.
Vangie was kind, patient, considerate, and always willing to help others.
She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Graveside will be held at 12Noon, Monday, June 19, 2023 in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US 70 Highway, Black Mountain, North Carolina.
