Marie Odetta Kline, age 100, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. Born on November 26, 1923, in Nichols, Iowa, Marie was the beloved daughter of Fred and Theresa Passmore. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and a deep love for her community.

A devoted Christian, Marie found joy and purpose in her faith and was an active member of Northland Cathedral. She made many lifelong friends through her evening bible study groups and involvement with the Women's Christian Club.

Marie married the love of her life, Charles Everett Kline, on October 18, 1942 in West Liberty, IA and from this marriage were blessed with four daughters. They raised their family in a rural community in Iowa, where Marie developed a love for nature and community involvement through 4-H. She was a skilled seamstress, creating and altering garments from wedding dresses to intricate Barbie clothing. In 1973, Everett's job with Farmland allowed the family to relocate to the Kansas City area. Marie used the skills she had acquired on the farm to create a beautiful garden adorned with various types of flowers and herbs. She especially loved hosting gatherings, adding her unique touch with creative themes and delicious meals, which included some of the items she had grown.

Marie's vibrant personality shone through her many interests and talents. At the age of 50 she began playing tennis and became a dedicated member of the Northland Tennis Club, playing until she was 88 years old. She was also a proud member of the Old Pike Country Club, Farmland Co-op Guild, and the Momettes. Her talents didn't end there, as she shared her passion for music with others, singing in the church choir, as well as playing the violin, piano and organ in the last half of her life.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Kline; daughter, Gloria Kishi; and brother, Don Passmore.

She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Patricia Baumgart, Jeanette (Harold) Stanton, and Donna (Daniel) Gilliland; grandchildren, Elissa (Rusty) Reed, Eric (Bethany) Baumgart, Kristen (Abel) Tallamantez, Stephanie (Julio) Lovato, Wendi (Jake) Sirna, Melissa Stanton, Kelly (James) Miller, Amy (Ken) Burns, Zach (Jordan) Gilliland, Josiah Gilliland, Aaron Gilliland ,and Havilah Gilliland; great grandchildren, Jake, Madi, Hayden, Mackenzie, Maddie (Kasey), Owen, Henry, Sloane, Vayda, Beckley, Dean, Breanna, Victoria, Gabi, Anson, Arianna, Isabel, Everett, Orlando, Aja, Analia, Elijah, and Bianca; great-great grandchild, Georgia; brother, Dwight Passmore; and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Friday, November 15th from 5-7pm. The funeral service will be held at Northland Cathedral on Saturday, November 16th at 10am, followed by burial at Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mid America Heart Institute or Tunnel to Tower Foundation.
