Salovich, Marilyn Joanne (nee Sandberg) April 25, 1929 - January 12, 2024
Our beloved Mother, Nana, Aunt, and friend to many, lived 94 years on this earth, and is now at home in Heaven with her Lord Jesus. Preceded in death by her loving husband Edward, and her five siblings, Lillian, Geraldine, Mildred, Emanuel, (Buzz), and Richard, she joins life anew "'Beyond the Sunset', Oh blissful morning, Where with my Savior, Heaven is begun."
Born to Clara and Emanuel Sandberg, Marilyn was raised in Minneapolis and enjoyed the love of many friends and family. Graduating from Central High School in 1947, she was Editor of the Yearbook, and school newspaper, and shared her joy and enthusiasm for life in many activities. She was Majorette for the Central HS Marching Band, in the Honor Society, and a cheerleader. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College, and then the U of MN in 1951. Her studies to become an Occupational Therapist led her to be seated alphabetically in Zoology class where she met Edward, who would become her wonderful husband. She worked as an OT at the Michael Dowling School and then moved to Dallas, Texas where Edward completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery.
They raised their six children in Dallas, TX and Edina, MN. They also lived in Lakeland, Florida and Lauderdale, MN. Marilyn was an avid golfer, loved music and art, was a Schubert Club President, and a busy Mom! She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and First Covenant Church in Minneapolis. Marilyn worked to set the groundwork for the Ordway, St. Paul.
She is survived by her six children, Barbara Salovich (Carl Pucci), Catherine Victorsen (Reid), Michael Salovich, Mark Salovich, Sue McCann (Brian), and Julie Salovich; her grandchildren, Noah Levine, Joe Pucci, Rachel Victorsen (Greg), Kris Victorsen, Nikita Salovich, Mikail Salovich, Crister Salovich, Luke McCann, Abby McCann, Drew McCann, Molly Murphy, and Norah Murphy; and two great grandchildren, Gregory and Giada.
Many thanks to so many faithful friends and loving caregivers. Celebration of Life Service is Saturday, January 20, 2024. Visitation 10:00am, Service 11:00am at Rose Hill Alliance Church, 2105 Roselawn Ave W, Roseville, MN. Private family Interment Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Memorial gifts preferred to the MacPhail School of Music in memory of Marilyn Salovich or to the Dementia Society of America.
