Mary Naomi "Hromadka" Borromey

I remember like it was yesterday the day I met Naomi´s oldest child, Joe, in 1965, and we became, and remain, best friends. As such, I had a uniquely close relationship with Joe´s family-and visa-versa. Mrs. McGovern, as I knew her as a teenager, was a remarkable person, and I can´t overstate her importance in my life-something I can also say about both her husbands, and her son, Joe. If we´re known by the company we keep, that sure says a lot about Naomi. The last time I saw her was at her 98th birthday party, and we enjoyed a really wonderful and lengthy reminiscence. Naomi was a great combination of tough, smart, accomplished, gentle, generous and welcoming. She set the bar awfully high, displayed great grace and courage, and inspired and helped me, and many others, to live our best lives. Thank you, dear friend, may you rest in peace.
