Mary Belle Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Belle Blue Johnson, 104, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11 AM at the Second Baptist Church, 800 North Decatur Street in Dublin.
Mary Belle Blue or "May Bell", as she is known to some, was born in Wilkinson County, Georgia, on Friday, April 18,1919, to the union of Cora Taylor Blue and Bobby Blue.
She worked in many capacities, primarily as a domestic servant to many prominent families, such as the Cobbs and the Adams at the time in the Dublin-Laurens County area. Mrs. Johnson retired in the year 1987. Mary Belle was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until age became a factor. She served on many support ministries such as the Usher Board and was a founding member of the Golden Age Choir. In later years, she continued to receive Holy Communion presented by the church's ministry team. She enjoyed travel, needle work, crafting, sewing, reading, and fishing. If you had the good fortune of visiting her table, she was an awesome cook which was a testament of many. There are numerous accounts of her riding on a motorcycle, and cross county plane rides and she was alone on numerous trips to the beach which she loved. To be in the presence of Mary Belle, she was known to have a gentle and kind spirit. She could often be found reading the Bible, sitting under her car shelter with friends sharing laughter and pound cake.
As she was an Angel to many, she officially became an Angel on the morning of Friday, July 7, 2023. Mary Belle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Austin, and her five siblings, Grace, Molly, Robert "Raleigh", Louise, and Miller Queen.
Many will be left to cherish and share her memories to include her nephew, Robert Blue, Jr., nieces, Cora Blue, Joyce Bradford, Stephianne Pittman; her stepson, Tony Chain, like a son, Charlie Cobb and his wife, Peggy, like a son, Hardwick "Boy" Davis, Jr; daughter-like friends, Andrea "Annie" Billue, and Debra Davis-Reeves; long-time neighbors, Retha and Ralph "Rat" Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff and her care team at the Shamrock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We also like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the many friends, relatives, and neighbors that would visit, share meals, laughter and to those that have expressed words of encouragement, cards, and other acts of kindness.
