Mary Lee "Breezy" Evans Smith died on June 29, 2024 at Brightview Senior Living in Timonium, MD, at the age of 95. She was born on January 2, 1929, in Des Moines, IA, a daughter of Herbert Eugene Evans and Margaret Lee (Brown) Evans. She was raised in Shaker Heights, OH and graduated from Smith College in 1951. She married P. Kingsley Smith on November 17, 1951. They moved to Towson, MD in 1956, where he was a priest at Trinity Episcopal Church, and where they spent the rest of their lives.
Her life was full of laughter, art and her beloved dogs. She loved hiking at her camp in the Adirondacks and playing the piano. She was an expert seamstress and spent much of her time painting with oils and creating handmade bisque dolls, and she was a founder of the Towson Doll Club. Her love of animals and keen interest in health led her to adopt a predominantly vegan lifestyle the last thirty years of her life.
She is predeceased by her husband, the Reverend P. Kingsley Smith, her granddaughter, Molly MacKenzie Nichols and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Lynn Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Sally Evans Nungesser of Lewisburg, PA, her four children, Kimberley Anne Nichols (Ashton) of Carlisle, PA, David MacKenzie Smith (Dona) of Milton, VT, Bonnie Kingsley Smith of Towson and Gwendolen Evans Probst (Emerson) of Hampstead, MD, as well as five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at Trinity Church and Long Lake, NY.
