Mary Walchonski

Mary Walchonski, 92, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday October 16, 2010 at Above and Beyond Mountain View, Allentown. Born in Hazleton, PA on November 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Onufrey and Rosalia (Strack) Kostiuk. She was the wife of the late John Walchonski who died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Letchko, Anna Lingousky, and Catherine Gius. She was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and of the ILGWU. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and baking cookies. Her greatest joy was being around her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, John and wife Mary of New Hope, PA, daughter Rosemarie Halle and husband Jeffrey of Middletown, NJ, grandchildren, Katy, Alexandra, JT, Nick, Andrew, and Emily, brothers, Raymond and Gerald Kostiuk, and sisters, Magdalene Figueredo, and Rose Marie Mastusick. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, where viewing hours will be held on Sunday October 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with Panachida beginning at 9:15 a.m. A 10 a.m. Office of Christian Burial will follow at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem. Interment will be in the St. Josaphat's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Above and Beyond at Mountain View - Assisted and Independent Living, 2232 29th St. S.W. Allentown, PA 18103.
