Melvyn Douglas "Doug" Hazelwood

Melvyn Douglas "Doug" Hazelwood, age 84, passed away Wednesday December 11, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Doug was a devoted husband of 65 years to Deana Randall Hazelwood. He was born June 11, 1940, in Berea, to the late Lewis and Cleo Baker Hazelwood. Doug was a graduate of Berea Foundation School class of 1958, and then attended Berea College class of 1962. He was a 55 year plus member of the Berea Masonic Lodge #617 F.& A.M., a charter member of the Berea Volunteer Fire Department, and was a former member of the Berea City Council, and an avid UK Wildcats fan. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite Kentucky Blue! Doug was a member of the First Christian Church.
Other than his parents Doug was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Bach of North Port, FL.
In addition to his wife Doug is survived by one daughter, Kathy Wedding and her husband Mike of Punta Gorda, FL, his faithful 15 year old companion Stormy, five grandchildren, Casey Bach of Atlanta, GA, Lindsey Wedding Harper and her husband Mark of Columbia, KY, Brittany Steffey of Lexington, KY, Josh Wedding and his wife Brittany of Greenville, IN, Corey Bach of Atlanta, GA, one great grandchild, Josie Wedding, son-in-law, Bill Bach of North Port, FL.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday December 16, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Revs. Mark & Lisa Caldwell-Reiss officiating. Private family entombment will follow in the Berea Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Bill Bach, Casey Bach, Corey Bach, Josh Wedding, Carl Lee Hazelwood, Steve Bugg. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Stephenson, Richard Bellando, Dennis Blackburn, Charlie Fiske, Jimmy Wagers, Butch Clark, Bill Ward, Bill Hendren, Chuck Conley, and Anthony Basham. Visitation will be 6:00PM – 9:00PM Sunday December 15, 2024, at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will begin at 7:30PM.
