Michael J. Coyne Jr. 84, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023 at Binghamton General Palliative Care Unit with his loving son, daughter and son-in law by his side. Michael was born January 27, 1939 In Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was predeceased by his loving wife Faith, his parents Michael and Magdalene, his sisters Mary, Joan, Margaret and brother Thomas. He is survived by his son, Sean and wife Keri, daughter Renee and husband Matt, his grandchildren Mara and Connor, along with his nieces and nephews. The past 18 months he also survived by his best buddies, our dogs Sadie and Sasha. Michael Graduated from St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre PA. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, where he once served as the president of the parish council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as a Grand Knight, District Deputy and in the Color Corps. He was a former Basketball Referee of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association and International Association of Basketball Officials. Michael served in the U.S. Army 1st armored division. Michael retired from IBM and was part of the Quarter Century Club. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, NY Giants, and Notre Dame. Anyone who met Mike, instantly loved him. He loved to tell stories. He loved to travel with his wife Faith, visiting various places such as Hawaii, Ireland, Las Vegas, Disney World, along with a few cruises. Michael will be missed by all who had the honor to know him. He was a little man with the biggest heart. Special thanks to his caregivers Teri, Audrey, Olivia and Jenna, whom he loved just like family.
A Funeral Mass for Michael will be held on Friday at 11 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends on Friday at church from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mike's memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
