Nelda Faye Gass Liles, 90, passed away at her home on Collins Road, May 5, 2024. Nelda was born on April 7, 1934 to Ruby Goins Gass and William Sterling Gass at Peason, Sabine Parish, LA. The family moved to Hagewood/Coldwater, LA in 1943. Then, being in the fourth grade, she attended Warren-Easton Elementary School followed by Natchitoches High School and graduating from NSU. She taught for over 30 years in elementary grades in Natchitoches Parish, retiring from Provencal Elementary School.
Nelda is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, William “Billy’ Harold Liles, a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth, son, William David Liles, and grandson Jon Sitz Liles. Also preceding her are her parents and brother Warren Alton Gass. Nieces; Christy Dianne Gibson and Judy Lynn Gibson Kavanagh (husband Eugene Kavanagh).
Left to remember and cherish her memory is son Stephen Mark Liles also of Collins Road. Grandchildren; David Lynn, Ricky Lynn, Kris Michael, Richard Sterling, Robert Sheldon and wife Sabrina (Simmons) Liles and their daughter Lily Alyss Liles. Great-grandsons; Karson Lee Liles, Justin Brooke Sitz, Justine Sitz, Aden Dale Liles, and Kade Anthony Liles.
Also touched by her death are her sister Billie Gass Gibson and husband Robert “Bobby” Gibson) and their daughter Tammy Suzanne Gibson Lloid and grand-daughter Alyssa Jane Lloid Ramstad (Dan Ramstad). (Husband of Tammy and father of Aylssa, Gregory Alvin Lloid, is recently deceased).
Graveside services followed by burial will be held at Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery located in Hagewood, LA on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 10 AM.
