Nero Morris Jr was born July 27, 1936 to Nero Morris Sr and Dosha (Mykle)Morris. He departed this life
November 26, 2022 at 4:25pm at Willis Knighton-Pierremont in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was known to
some as Pop Nero, Poppy Pop, Unc, later, Fussy Butt and most simply he was Junior. He accepted Christ
at a young age. He was a faithful member and deacon at St. John Baptist Church in Bellevue, Louisiana
until his health worsened. He attended high school at Princeton High School, Princeton, Louisiana. He
would later unite in marriage to Sadie V. Hardman June 23, 1957 for 27 years. Through this union, five
children were born.
Dad was a very friendly guy. He was very easy to get along with and everyone who met him loved him.
He quickly became their dad, brother or uncle along with the rest of us. He was always a hard worker.
During his early years, Dad was employed with Wray Lincoln on Texas Avenue for about 10 years. Later,
Nero worked in transport for Hormel Food Company for about 30 years plus until they closed. He was
fortunate to open his own barbeque business in 1979. It was called Nero's Hickory Hut located in
Bossier City. Someone was quoted as saying "The Ribs are meaty and the sauce is a killer". In about
1986, he started a job with CC Express Trucking Company where he worked until he was injured and
could no longer drive large trucks. When Dad recouped from his injuries, he was restless. He later
started a job with for Quest Diagnostics as a delivery/pick-up specialist. Dad loved driving so he really
loved this job and meeting new people. He retired in March 2008.
In 2016, Dad's health began to decline. In January 2019, he was admitted for rehab at Riverview Care
Center in Bossier City where he eventually became a resident for 3 years and 11 months until he passed.
He will truly be missed.
Nero leaves to cherish his precious memory, his daughter Ramona Jane Terry, Mona, Shreveport, LA and
Dexter Glenn (Felecia)Morris, Millersville, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his baby girl Michelle,
oldest son Ricky and youngest son Jonathan Morris. He is survived by brother, Leslie Morris, Cotton,
Carson, CA; three sisters Betty Jean Morris-Brownlee "Betty Boop", Dallas, TX; Blanche Etta Kirkendoll,
Bossier City, LA; Bobbie Nell (Ray) Noble, Orlando, FL and Ray Jackson, Shreveport, LA his best friend and
brother. He was preceded in death by four brothers Billy Ray, Arthur, Willie and Frank.
He has three handsome grandsons, Michael (Melissa) Terry Jr, Shreveport, LA; Dexter H. Morris Jr,
Millersville, MD, US Navy, San Antonio, TX; Tristen J. Morris, Millersville, MD and a host of wonderful
devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him until the end. He will be dearly missed.
