Nicolas Estrada Castro

Nicolas Castro, a dedicated patriarch, mentor and pillar of the Hispanic community, passed away February 26th, 2024 at the age of 77. He was a shining example of hard work, compassion and selflessness. Born in Cañitas Zacatecas Mexico on December 28th, 1946, to the late Manuel Castro and Maria Estrada. Nicolas was known for his unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and his values. As a loving husband to Norma Linda Castro for 28 years before her death in 2006, a devoted father to Juan Castro, Angela Castro, Javier Castro, Maria Castro, y Augustine Castro and cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren Lupita Castro, Sandra Castro, Veronica Castro, Cecilia Castro, Juan Manuel Castro, Erick Castro, Alexys Castro, Litzy Castro, Génesis Castro, Yilene Castro, Ariadne Castro, Izzabella Castro, and one great-grand daughter Allaynah Castro. He leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance that will forever be remembered.
The family will receive friends for a visitation and Rosary on Monday, March 4th from 6:30PM until 8:00PM in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5th at 11:00AM. Following the service the burial will take place at Preston Cemetery.
Nicolas was deeply passionate about supporting others, and he touched countless lives through his acts of kindness and generosity. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or being a mentor to his employees. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his dedication to providing for his family served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those he touched.
Nicolas is survived by his children Juan (Ruby) Castro of Zacatecas Mexico, Angela Castro of San Antonio, Texas, Javier (Maria) Castro of Marietta Georgia, Maria (Isaac) Bernal or Preston Georgia, Augustine (Tasmin) Castro of Preston, Georgia; His Brother Manual (Raquel) Castro; Sisters Elisa (Alfredo) Castro of Zacatecas, Mexico, Raquel (Guillermo) Castro of Zacatecas, Mexico, Irma Castro of Zacatecas, Mexico; His 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Christopher Anthony of Richland, Georgia whom Nicolas always said was his son and mentored him as such; Ken Singleton of Buena Vista, Georgia and Ronnie Crimes of Preston, Georgia, both longtime friends of his who were like brothers to him.
Nicolas is preceded in death by his life partner and wife of 28 years, Norma L. Castro; his brothers Ramiro Castro and Baltazar Castro.
Honorary Pall bearers are Christopher Anthony, Isaac Bernal, Jaime Bernal, Ronnie Crimes, Jairo Estrada and Cristian Hernandez.
