Nolan W. Edmondson was born on January 2, 1926, in Seneca, Missouri, one of eight children to James and Bertha (Plummer) Edmondson. He entered into rest on February 6, 2024, in Neosho at the age of 98. Nolan was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Seneca High School and attended college at NEO Junior College in Miami and the University of Alabama. On May 31, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, Nolan married his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Lee Lankford, and they shared seventy-seven wonderful years together. After serving in the 1st Army Air Corps during WWII, he returned home and secured employment with B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma, where he worked in quality control and later retired after 39 years. Following retirement, Nolan and Wanda traveled extensively in their RV, visited distant relatives, joined an RV club, and became Winter Texans. Nolan was a 70+ year member of the American Legion, a longtime volunteer for Seneca Fire Department, an avid reader, and a collector of toy tractors. He was known for his great sense of humor. Nolan was a member of the Seneca Church of Christ where he served many years as a deacon and bible study teacher. In addition to his wife, Wanda, Nolan is survived by a daughter, Jan Cox and her husband, Jerry of Seneca, two grandchildren, Brian Cox of Springfield and Amanda Moehsmer and her husband, Jesse of Joplin. Nolan is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Beryl, Lee, Blaine, Eula, Ruth, Reba and Merney. Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 1 pm at the Seneca Church of Christ; Jake King and Bob Hampton will officiate. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the church until 2:30 pm. Contributions in memory of Nolan may be made to Fairhaven Children's Home.
