I am very sorry for your loss. I stumbled upon this obituary, and I believe we may be related. My grandfather was Alfred Eiss of Marilla, New York. He passed away when I was little bitty in 1959 or so. I don´t know very many of my relatives on my dad´s side, but I know there´s a slug of them. Plus, I think I can see a family resemblance. Anyway, I wish I could´ve known him, he looks like a great guy.

My first memory is when I met with him back in Fall of 1982 when he offered me to work for him as graduate teaching assistant. He was a great mentor and and a great man, very kind and very helpful and considerate. I have good memories of him. May his esteemed soul rest in eternal peace.

Professor Eiss was on my Committee for my Master's Thesis in 1981. He was friendly and supportive and very easy to work with.
