Patricia A. Smith, age 82, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She was born March 5, 1942 in Elgin, IL to Stephen & Genevieve Balla.
Patricia was loved by everyone who knew her. If you came to her house she would always offer you a bowl of her homemade vegetable or chicken soup and make you feel so welcome. Patricia also loved the holidays and would start shopping for the perfect gifts for everyone all year round. She loved her kids and her grandchildren fiercely and always supported them in all their endeavors. She taught religious education(CCD) at St Michael's Church in Wheaton for over 10 years. She always made learning fun with games so all the kids actually looked forward to going to her class.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald; her children Steven (Carol) Smith & Carol (Chris) Chambers; her grandchildren Rebecca, Jacob (Megan) Angelica & Austin Smith and Lucas (Veronica), Jack (fiancée Katelyn) & Max (fiancée Dina) Chambers; and her great-grandchildren Bennett, Clark & Otto. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Collins.
A private interment will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Samaritan's Purse.

We were so blessed to have moved next door to Pat and Don. There were many times we would have conversations over the fence or a glass of wine in our back yard. Pat was a true friend. No airs, no judgements. Notice we did not say opinions. Nothing was more important to Pat than her family and friends. She loved dearly and will always be remembered dearly.
