Peggy L Long, 67, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:25 pm May 24, 2023 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She was born October 28, 1955 in East Saint Louis, Illinois to Clarence and Emma Annalee (Hale) Cathers.
In addition to her mother, Anna Cathers of Adairville, Kentucky, Peggy is survived by her son, Patrick Shane Long of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, Zachary Cathers and wife, Hannah of West Frankfort, Illinois, Joshua Cathers of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-granddaughter, Aliyah Cathers; sisters, Gina Stewart of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Tracy Stone of Granite City, Illinois, Shannon Booher and husband, Grant of Adairville, Kentucky; brothers, Kevin Cathers of Jacksonville, Illinois, Adam Cathers and wife, Christina of Roodhouse, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and special cat, Wiggles.
In addition to her father, Clarence Cathers, Peggy was preceded in death by her daughters, Amanda Cathers and Amy Long; brothers, Michael Cathers and Terry Cathers; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Stewart.
Peggy loved fishing and camping with her family. She loved traveling and adventures. In addition to her kids she devoted her life to her cat, Wiggles. She was Kid Rocks #1 fan. She was also of the Christian Faith. Peggy will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and Mr. Wiggles.
Per Peggy's request, cremation will take place and there will be no services held.
