Mrs. Herndon was born December 17, 1963 in Glasgow, KY. She is survived by husband of 24 years, Terry Herndon of Gallatin, TN; parents, James Neathery and Doris McCool Neathery of Bowling Green, KY; son, Nicholas Lawhon (Hope Hawkins) of Munfordville, KY; step-son, Guy Herndon of Gallatin, TN; brother, Robert Neathery (Ellen) of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Brenin Ryan Lawhon and Felicity Aeris Lawhon; and beloved cats, Hank, Milo, and Jr. Mrs. Herndon was a nurse for over 36 years, working at Sumner Regional Medical Center, Hendersonville Hospital, and St. Thomas Hospital. Mrs. Herndon loved to travel, especially to Chicago, where she enjoyed attending sporting events; in addition, she enjoyed the beach, with a special love for Ft. Walton Beach. She was an avid Vanderbilt Commodores Fan who enjoyed attending games with her family. Portia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
