On May 30, 2023, our beloved Richard Ellis Jr. was called home to be with the Lord. Richards' nick name, aka "Dre" to people who knew him, was born on July 13, 1974, at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington. He was the youngest of two sons to Rita Jones Ellis, J. Jones, and Richard. Many knew "Dre" from Mann Middle School and Steilacoom High School. "Dre" enjoyed Hip-hop, Rap music, coaching soccer, playing basketball/baseball, and was a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He was talented in the construction field, flipping houses, and enjoyed working with his hands. He especially cherished taking care of the elderly in his neighborhood. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Percy, and Helen Louise Jones and is survived by his mother Rita; brother J. Jones, and four children: oldest son Dmitri, daughters Taylor, and Mellina, with youngest son Dreden; along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Richard has been on my mind for many years. I haven´t seen Richard since I moved to California since I was 13 years old. Richard and I used to spend the night at each others homes during our years in elementary school. He was always a great person and friend. My heart aches to hear that he is no longer lighting up this earth with his presence. However, I know his love still shines bright in the lives of those he has loved.

We miss you so much. Lil man loves wearing your hats and like to put bandanas under them. He looks at n the mirror and says " just like daddy". I'll talk to you more tonight. We love you and miss you a bunch.
