Richard B. Galvin, known as the 'Pool Guy,' passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on May 23, 2023. He was 71 and lived in Congers for 27 years.
Rick is survived by his wife, Joanne nèe Leote; his children, John, Jennifer, Mary Owen (Gary), Elizabeth and Richard; his grandchildren, Scarlett (Ken), Dalton (Janice), Ryan, Katlynn (Jordan), Landon, Bristol, Brodie, James and Brooklyn; his great-grandchildren, Richard and Amira Vetter, Bradley and Avery Marty and Emmelynn Skillman; his sibling, Pat Sammons (John), Mary Fogelson (Dale), Mike, Kevin and Daniel Galvin (Joy); his brother-in-laws, John (Vicky), Jimmy (Edie), Jeff (Rocca), Jay (Cathy) and Jody Leote. He is survived and will be sorely missed by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Rick was born on December 22, 1951 to Vincent and Monica Caron Galvin in Slayton, MN. Raised on a farm, Rick was accustomed to hard work from a young age and developed a passion for pool construction. For many years he worked for LaFrancois Construction and recently retiring from Crystal Clear Pool in 2019. Rick was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing and boating.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 3:30pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. Visiting hours will be 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Rick's name to United Hospice (https://unitedhospiceinc.org/donation/).
