Richard Carl Goldschmidt

Richard Carl Goldschmidt, age 84, of Colby, WI entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at The Waterford Senior Living Center. He passed peacefully in his sleep under the tender care of Promedica Hospice.
Richard was born September 16, 1939, the son of Richard J. and Ruth (Fuhrmann) Goldschmidt. He graduated from Colby High School, class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Nancy L. Weideman on September 2, 1967, at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, WI. Together they took over the family farm on Huckleberry Road. Under Richard's care and direction, the farm successfully expanded and flourished. He enjoyed being his own boss and loved taking care of his herd and land.
Richard and Nancy were blessed with three children: Michelle Engel of Athens, Kim (James) Ford of St. Charles, MO, and Richard A. (Julie) Goldschmidt of Dorchester, five grandchildren: Heather (Dane) Wisniewski of Mosinee, Larissa Schmoll of Merrill, Richard Ford of Brunswick, GA, Kyle Finke of Athens and Jackson Ford attending Washington University at St. Louis and three great-grandchildren: Natasha, Kolton and Makenzie Wisniewski. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Arthur and Lydia Weideman.
Aside from spending time with his family, Richard enjoyed antiquing with his wife Nancy. He enjoyed collecting items that had a story. He loved traveling around Wisconsin and fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to Alaska after he retired. Richard was an avid hunter and carpenter. He enjoyed logging in his later years and making furniture from the wood on the farm.
Richard leaves behind many friends who are thankful and blessed by the time they had with him. He was a devout Christian and will look forward to being with his loved ones again.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hope Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Hope Lutheran Church in Edgar. Interment to follow at church cemetery. Pastor Scott Miller will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
