Richard J. Harzinski

Richard J. 'Harzi' Harzinski, age 64 of Corning, NY passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Corning Hospital. Born on April 27, 1959 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Kapral) Harzinski.
Richard was a graduate of Corning East High School, class of 1977. After graduation, Richard joined the United States Army, serving from 1977 to 1980. He married Rebecca Bartholomew on June 6, 1988. She predeceased him on March 7, 2020. Richard worked as a manager for Eckerd Drugs in Corning, for over 15 years.
Richard will be remembered for his love of fishing and playing various games. He enjoyed playing Risk with his brothers, cards and Wii golf. During the summer months, Richard could be found tending to his vegetables in his garden. He was also an avid collector of various trucks and figurines.
Richard is survived by his daughters: Amanda (Tammy) Smithler of Endicott, NY and Haili Devine of Corning, NY; mother-in-law, Jenny Bartholomew of Painted Post, NY; granddaughter, Elli Rae Devine of Corning, NY; and brothers: Bob (Rosea) Harzinski and Bill (Julie) Harzinski.
In addition to his parents and wife, Rebecca, Richard was predeceased by his aunt, Jean Harzinski.
Richard's family wishes to express their gratitude to his close friends who helped care for him over the years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with full military honors on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Bath National Cemetery, San Juan Ave., Bath, NY. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with Richard's arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name may be sent to an SPCA of your choice.
