Richard was born on September 23rd, 1946 to Lilian & Albert Melin in Brooklyn NY. After going to Grady High School
In 1966 he began his career with Verizon until 1994 when retired.
Richard met Phyllis in 1966 and they were married in 1969. They had 3 children, Richard Jr, Eric & Karin.
Richard was a very dedicated husband & involved father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very involved in the Parkville Youth Organization, where Richard held several board positions throughout his years there. He also coached while Richard Jr & Eric played football & baseball. He later coached his daughter's softball teams.
He was a devout Catholic & had a deep love of Jesus.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Phyllis, parents Lilian & Albert, his brother Albert (Skippy) & his mother in law Josephine Piacenti.
Loving father of Richard Jr, Eric and Karin. Adored father in law of Diane, MaryEllen & Jose. Cherished grandfather of Stephen, Julianna, EJ, Dana, Meghan, Shea, Mason and Dakota.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00pm to 4:00pm & 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45am on Wednesday at The Shrine Church of St. Bernadette at 8201 13th Ave, Brooklyn, NY
