Mr. Paul, 86, of Boyce, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Dubuis Hospital, Alexandria, LA.
Bobby Paul graduated from Boyce High School in 1955. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana College, a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin, and earned thirty plus graduate hours in Special Education from Northwestern State University and other universities.
After being drafted into the Army in 1961 and serving two years of active duty, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve until he retired in 1996.
He dedicated most of his career and his life to Special Education. He was the principal of St. Mary's Residential Training School from 1978 until 1994. He served on the Board of the ARC Rapides for forty-one years and was on the Human Rights Committee at Louisiana Special Educational Center for many years. After retirement he continued to be an education coordinator at Crossroads Hospital in Alexandria.
Bobby was a long-time deacon at Community Baptist Church and Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member of Gideon's International where he particularly enjoyed placing bibles into school children's hands. He was also a member of the Alexandria Civitan Club where he actively served for many years. Bobby never met a stranger and loved to strike up conversations everywhere he went.
He loved his family, animals, many pets, children, bluegrass music, and Cleveland Baseball. He also enjoyed gardening, old cars, watching college sports with his wife, history, reading, and a good road trip. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bob" Paul and Susie Miller Paul; his brother, Bill Paul; and his sister, Jackie Edwards.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-one years, Alpha Carol McDaniel Paul; his children, Carole Christian (Paul), Robert K. Paul (Diana), Susan Adams (James), and Daniel Paul; six grandchildren, Leisa Rattray (Jules), Sara B. Christian, Zachary Leuschel-Paul (Adam), Lindsay Mowery (Jared), Braeden Paul, and Matthew Adams (Ellie); one great grandchild, Maria Rattray; his brother-in-law, Raymond Edwards; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Paul.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

He was such a kind man. I enjoyed serving with him through Rapides ARC. David and I enjoyed going to church with him. He was always calm during a storm and the voice of reason during conflict. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. Sorry we will be unable to attend services--David has COVID. Just know that our prayers are with the family.
