Robert L. Pratt, Sr., 95, of Smithfield, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at HopeHealth Hospice in Providence. He was the husband of the late Jeanette O. (Bostrom) Pratt and son of the late Cyril and Mabel Pratt.
Mr. Pratt was a graduate of Aldrich High School in Warwick. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army, where he served for 1 1/2 years. Upon return, he took a high school refresher course, before entering WNCA Institute (now Roger Williams University). He was president of his senior class and gave a speech with Senator Pastore.
Robert went on to work for Wheeling Steel as a salesman retiring in 1992. Mr. Pratt enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and canoeing. An Eagle Scout himself, he was an assistant Scoutmaster with the Georgiaville Troop 1. He was very active with the Georgiaville Baptist Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for thirty years, and enjoyed his vacation home in Maine. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Robert L. Pratt, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Steven D. Pratt and his wife Sharon, Brian D. Pratt and his wife Donna, and Susan D. Lynch and her husband Ted Corte. He also leaves nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Nancy Wheeler.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 10 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Calling hours Friday 5-7 pm.
